They taste it in front of her and it’s so bad, she’s eliminated then and there. Sean’s liver has loads of flavour but George picks up that there’s inconsistency in the cooking of it, with some nicely fried and other bits stewed.Įmily’s banana fritter is a starchy, flavourless mess. Judgement time and Steven’s fish is cooked beautifully. But in all the rush, he mixes the two together. In his second pan, it’s searing the meat nicely. He has two pans on the go – the first pan wasn’t hot enough, so the meat is stewing. Steven’s hacked up some fish and will try doing something with that. The only problem is that she’s frying the banana first without the coating. Emily’s making a banana fritter with condensed milk and panko breadcrumbs. Emily’s crab is well cooked but the sauce doesn’t work with it. Sean’s squid is well cooked this time but there’s too much passata. Steven’s pork is over-cooked and his jus is pretty bad. Brent is also somehow inexplicably safe with his “eel toast”. The ones who are safe are Georgia, who’s made salmon canapes that look great and taste great. The judges are concerned about Emily’s choice of honey and apricot jam. Emily is cooking crab with honey and apricot jam. Sean’s making calamari, the dish that was raw last time he cooked it. Sam is also safe with lobster and leek dish. Tracy, for all her lack of confidence, is safe. It’s just a shame about the marron.īen’s the next one safe with his lamb cutlets and cous cous. They think that the accompanying elements are fantastic. Sean’s marron looks terribly unappetising. It’s not looking good for Steven as the judges taste his crime scene.Įmelia’s winning baked coconut custard and meringue puts her in a very good position and is safe for sure. The skin isn’t crispy and it’s sitting in a pool of blood. It’s plating up time and Steven’s duck hasn’t had any time to rest. Again, subtlety isn’t your strong point, MasterChef. You should be starring in your own laundry detergent ad. You’re a successful business woman and busy mum with three beautiful children. We see her introduction montage for probably the 9th time – her in the salon then surround by her kids. From us not knowing who she was a week ago, it’s become the Tracy Show guest starring the cast of MasterChef. Like him, Sean’s a bit weird but also kinda fun to watch.īack to Tracy and she’s still feeling the pressure. He also inexplicably knocked title favourite and Thai specialist, Marion out with a satay sauce. Remember him? He had that ridiculous beanie and “quirky” personality. There’s something about Sean that reminds me so much of Aaron from Season 2. He uses whatever he could salvage to fry in butter because butter fixes everything. The problem is that even after cooking more than 30 portions perfectly yesterday, this time he under-cooked it and half the tail remained in the shell. Sean has decided to cook marron, since they did a good job of it in yesterday’s challenge. But today when it really counts, she’s making a dessert again. She says she doesn’t want to be known just as the Dessert Queen, which is why she passed the buck on yesterday’s panna cotta to Georgia. But in the past few episodes her massive ego has really shown her to be quite Cupcake Barbie-esque. She was the understated Dessert Queen like the one from Season 4. You know what, last week I called Emelia this season’s Kylie. The judges think there’s too much sweet going on and no balance. Our favourite inept cook this season, Steven, is cooking duck with miso caramel and a mango, ginger salsa. In classic Tracy style, she has no immediate plan B and is paralysed with fear. Tracy has her eyes set on the duck but before she can reach it, it’s gone. Each contestant has dibs on whatever ingredients they want from the bench but no one else can use them and they’re out for the following rounds. Round 3, you guessed it, will have the last three contestants have three ingredients and only 10 minutes to cook. Round 2 will see the remaining six contestants have six ingredients to work with and 20 minutes to cook. First up, they’ll get 10 ingredients and 30 minutes to cook. There are three rounds for the elimination. Tracy has driven one of the Jeeps to the MasterChef kitchen herself! What next, the “overseas trip” is in New Zealand and they have to swim there? This year’s painful Australian Federal Budget must have also hit MasterChef hard.
